Getting Ready for National Boards

Right before the end of the school year my principal approached me and asked if I would be interested in going for my National Board Certificate. At the time was wasn't sure, but now I have jumped in head first and have started the process.

For those of you not familiar with the National Board process it is a year long process where you write reflections on different lessons you teach.  There are four areas in which your lessons must fall; math/science, language, community involvement, and social studies. Besides written reflections you also have to take 3 computer based test.  My county is not only giving incentives for teachers that complete the process but they are also paying for it.  To learn more about National Board Certification check out there website http://www.nbpts.org/national-board-certification.  So in order to prep for this endeavor I have spent much of my summer reading about different theories and approaches to teaching.

Here is what I have read so far.

Stay tuned for what I have learned.
